Zapatista Children
Dec. 15th, 2014 01:28 amMitzie, one of the two muralists who were with us in Jol Ja, poses with a number of Zapatista children who were painting in a section of the mural reserved for them. That section was painted over later, but it was neat to see the children feeling included.

Though we were asked to not make any photographs showing the faces of any of the Zapatistas, children were an exception.
Every time I look at these pictures, I can't help but wonder what kinds of life experiences these children have, growing up in an autonomous zone with parents who are part of a rebellion. I can't even imagine.
