Bathroom harassment
May. 16th, 2016 05:17 pmAn article shared on Facebook about more bathroom harassment is making me really angry right now. A woman with short hair and a baseball cap was harassed in a bathroom by someone who told her she was "disgusting" and didn't belong there.

I'm so tired of this shit. And yet It's barely started to come public attention. Some people have been dealing with this most of their lives.
My perspective on this is influenced by my belief that the entire gender spectrum creates and supports institutionalized and unnecessary sets of behaviors. (This is why I identify as agender. Even a spectrum legitimizes its own end points; end points which I see as inherently problematic from a social construction perspective.)
But my perspective is that it's none of your damned business what kind of waste elimination equipment anybody has, and I'm pretty damned pissed off at people who disagree and take it upon themselves to harass and embarrass people. It's not your business. If you're uncomfortable, you can leave. Not make a comment and leave. Not stare pointedly and leave. Just leave.
