Surprise! TForce called Miriam to say that they would be here in approximately half an hour.

I honestly don't know how they manage to deliver anything when they don't stick to their scheduled days and they don't call in advance to give a window; they just show up. That explains all the horrible reviews about people being unable to work out a time when they're at home to receive shipments I suppose.

Miriam and I ordered more furniture, including a bed frame, from IKEA on Friday. They said it would be delivered on Saturday, but by the end of the weekend, the status still hadn't even been updated to indicate that it was with TForce, the notoriously bad shipping company IKEA uses. It still said IKEA was preparing our order.

Miriam talked to an agent via chat two days ago and they rescheduled the order for tomorrow the 14th. Status on IKEA's site says that the order has, in fact, been delivered to TForce. The odds don't seem too good that we'll actually get it tomorrow either, but at least there's progress.

We originally considered buying from IKEA when we moved here from the Netherlands, but decided not to because so many people said the company that does their delivery is awful. I guess they were right. These are the reviews for the delivery company IKEA is using. Some favorite excerpts:

" I could've rode a unicycle towing a trailer behind me to pick this order up and deliver it by now."
"I wouldn't trust this company to deliver bad news to my enemy."

I went back to the beginning of these reviews. Every one - every single one - except the first one is 1 star. Average rating is 1.03/5.

The IKEA delivery did not arrive yesterday even though their order info says it would. Today, it *still* says it will arrive yesterday. Miriam called the delivery company yesterday for an update and they said it would be delivered today (with no explanation about the delay, but the rep was also really hard to understand), but no word from them yet so we still have no info about when or if that supposedly is happening.

Miriam is chatting with a rep at IKEA now who says that it will have to rescheduled for Wednesday. (They also tried to tell us that "your delivery company" only offers 12 hour windows. Miriam told them that IKEA chose that company - it is *their* company, not *ours*.

I know I'm already low on patience and cope these days, but I am so pissed. We can't move in until that order arrives. It's a good thing we didn't have to be out of our current place this past Friday; someone could very conceivably been in that position and now be screwed.

Not that this applies to anyone hwere, but as I wrote on Facebook:

I have no personal stake in who is cast as The Doctor. I haven't watched the series, and don't really care (though I love K-9 and Tom Baker's scarf).

But loud negativity about The Doctor now being female for no other reason than zie is now female is a good way to make me angry. I don't have the brain to deal with things that make me angry right now, so I'm just going to unfriend you.

I'm digitizing a Folkways recording of Woody Guthrie singing with Leadbelly, Cisco Houston, Sonny Terry, and Bess Hawes. It's the first time I've heard "Hard Traveling"; I really dig it. I'm adding it to my list of train songs, and driving music in general.

Sadly, the notes that the jacket says are included in the pocket are missing.

Danae and I had a fun trip to Mitsuwa and Ikea today. Multicultural foods and furniture! I had some fresh Bul-go-ki, a lovely daifuku, and a soft-serve green tea ice cream cone. (Then for dinner, we got take out from Table-to-Stix here in Evanston. Soooo good!)

We were looking specifically for a matching bookcase for the one I snagged in the alley recently and looks really good in our bedroom! So, of course, they were out of stock. But we got glasses (Nathan owned most of the ones that had been here so we needed more), a set of shelves for my audio componentry, some boxes for our closet, and other things. 'Course, I'll have to go back again for that bookcase.

Danae and I haven't really taken any kind of trip that was just she and I for a while. Though I messed up scheduling with other people today and feel bad about that, spending the day with my partner was really good for my brain. I love her muchly, and time with her is more precious that I sometimes remember.
