I was asked what I know about samurai by someone who will be traveling to Japan soon. Approximately 1/3 of what I know about feudal Japan comes from playing Nobunaga's Ambition II on a 486, 1/3 comes from watching anime, and 1/3 comes from Wikipedia surfing to learn more about things and people from Nobunaga's Ambition II and anime. Ok, and maybe just a touch from reading Stan Sakai's "Usagi Yojimbo."

That is to say, I'm probably not the person to ask about feudal Japan.
