Rufus is having a seizure. I'm at work, and this is the one day that Miriam has to teach so she can't stay home with him. I'm coordinating with the shelter to see what needs to be done and how to manage him. He's been seizing for five minutes or so and I'm scared.

I was working on swapping days with someone so I could go home, but the shelter managed to find someone to pick him up. I'm scared, but he's going to the vet and should be ok...

I could maybe use a little support though...

What is he being given for the seizures?

Valium, of all unlikely things, is very good as I know from working with young people who had dangerous epileptic fits.

At present, he isn't on any medication. I'm not clear about whether his former people ever got him checked out by a vet for the seizures, or if they just figured he always seemed to come out of them and was ok. It's hard to know how an animal was taken care of before arriving at the shelter.
