Curiosity / A Request for Help
Jan. 25th, 2021 11:59 pmA request for help.
One of my favorite things has always been to go out and see *things*. Weird things, cool things, art things, architecture things, infrastructure things. But lately I have had absolutely no motivation to do nearly *anything*. I have no motivation to go see things for myself.
I like doing things for other people. I love being needed or wanted or appreciated. I think we can combine those things. Are there things here in Amsterdam or surrounds you'd like to see? That you'd like pictures of, or a first-hand description of? Tell me what you'd like to see or know about and I'll see if I can get there.
There's a service like this for getting pictures of gravestones. If you want to see a gravestone that's far away from you, you can post a request for someone to take a picture for you. I've always loved that idea; of helping someone far away feel closer to something they care about or are interested in. Maybe I can do that for you.
If there's something you're curious about, let me know. I can get to anywhere in Amsterdam by bike, and possibly surrounds, especially to the north. Maybe take a look at Google Maps, or Atlas Obscura, or architecture guides, and let me know if there's something I can see for you.
My first bicycle here was named Curiosity, in partial honor of the Mars probe by that name. Maybe I can be *your* curiosity if mine isn't managing to get past the depression very well. If you want to pass this along to other folks, please do, or relay their requests to me. I need to get outside for *something*.

Date: 2021-01-28 10:16 am (UTC)I read about the penis fountain! I wanted to see it, but it looks like it was removed some time back. Such a sad loss of art. *grins*
I'm worried about going inside places with Covid happening, but I've wanted to see De Poezenboot since before I moved here. The Totalitarian Art Gallery would be interesting too.

Date: 2021-01-28 10:17 am (UTC)I have come to feel like all of the Netherlands is canals! Are you thinking canals in rural settings, or in Amsterdam, or big ones or small ones? It's hard to narrow it down.
