As of yesterday, we've been told, the cleaning and demolition is complete at the condo and they started the odor removal process.

Our adjuster originally told us it could be a year before we could move back. I really have no idea whether this progress is in line with that timeline or not.

Miriam and I talked about the possibility of trying to rent the place out, probably through a management company, and renting an apartment for ourselves if it turns out that living there is traumatic for either of us. Neither of us want to deal with being landlords, but neither of us wanted to deal with our condo burning either.

The therapy helps significantly. She (the therapist) uses EMDR, which is a methodology that sounds a little woo, but it's evidence-based and has been remarkably effective. It was making a big difference for Miriam in treating the PTSD from working for an emotionally abusive person in the Netherlands.

That also sounds like a pain in the ass and more expensive for not less headache. Good that the therapy is making a difference.
