I got to show off the nice black kilt that Moira actually had imported from the UK for me. So nice! Even nicer was a couple of people telling me how beautiful I looked in it. I was fiercely blushing in the middle of the the Congenial/Wine and Cheese party. I do wish I had been able to walk about in the satyr costume that Moira created for me, but that was not to be it would appear. Definitely next time.
Good thing number two. Though not really con related, while I was home Saturday night, I finally, after several abortive attempts to watch other things that swiftly bored me, got around to watching Yojimbo. It was the first time I'd ever really sat down and watched a Kurosawa film. I found that, after getting by the terrible white-on-white subtitling, it was surprisingly good. Though I fell asleep halfway through, it was through no fault of the film. I may have to grab a few more as I get the chance. I've never seen The Seven Samurai. I saw part of Throne of Blood once though, and I may grab that one next. Who can argue with a Japanese adaptation of MacBeth? I've even got Moira willing to watch them with me. Yay!
On a superficially unrelated subject, after updating my Livejournal userinfo page with something that I hope might result in me making a little more sense to people who bump into my journal after meeting Moira or I at a con or something (see it here if you'd like), I've decided that I'd really like to put together a web page about my understanding of and experiences with face blindness. Beyond helping people I'm acquainted with, or even have yet to meet, understand me a bit better (since the people who know me already are generally pretty aware of my problems), maybe if I posted links in a few places where people might be intersted and I let it spread around, I could even help people I've never met, who may be in the same position I was a few years ago or are trying to deal with someone who is, to cope a little bit better. That would make me very happy. I'll definitely post a link here when I finish writing it. Watch this space!
But for now, I'm devoting tonight to spending some quality time with my mate. We have a funny movie to watch, a fabulous dinner to eat, and a bed to snuggle in. And things.
