It was strangely relaxing to drive home from work and know that I was heading home to pick up my mate from her job. She's working outside the house for the first time since starting on Ebay full time. She really enjoyed it too (apart from the pain her foot is currently in from the walking she did) which makes me immensely glad. Being forced to work sucks, so I'm glad that it's at least as enjoyable as work can be for her. I'm so happy for you my love!
I didn't get to go down to visit
lisagems as I'd wanted to today. Andrea's Escort has broken down (we heard today that it's a timing belt) and, since we only have one car, I had to get home to pick her up. We left early in the morning so I could drop her off at the little café near her new place of employment and proceed on down to Illinois, reversing the procedure on the way home. (Lisa, I tried to call you to make sure you knew I wasn't coming, but I couldn't seem to get through. I apologize if I caused any inconvenience to you....)
I haven't written much of anything for a while. I've been distracted by life and I guess I don't have a great deal to say about that right now. I've been really stressed for quite a while. I spent most of a couple evenings in bed last week just zoning out and napping. Things have settled a bit currently, despite the vehicular follies. Maybe I'll write about all of that when I can.
Speaking of which, though I need to discuss with Moira yet, I'm leaning toward not repairing the Escort. I don't know how much longer it will last anyway, though I suppose the engine running as roughly as it was could have been caused by stretching in the now-broken timing belt. We were in the process of trying to afford a car that
girtygrin is selling and, in light of that, we have precious little to start throwing good money after bad on a car who's time has come. *sighs*
I bought a cheap copy of Beyond Divinity at Big!Lots just 'cause it was a top-down role-playing game that didn't look like it completely sucked. Though I haven't had a chance to play much beyond the very beginning, it does seem half-way decent, despite an almost comically bad voice-over for the Death Knight character. Whether it's good enough to draw any significant amount of my attention remains to be determined. It's been so very long since I've found a good, new role-playing game. I've heard very good things about Elder Scrolls: Oblivio, but even more so about Dragon Quest VIII. Of course, it'll probably be rather different than I expect since the last game in that series that I played was number two on the 8-bit original Nintendo Entertainment System, but I hear that its pendulum swings markedly toward the 'old school' side of things.
And, speaking of things I can't currently afford, I just found out that the first two seasons of The Adventures of Pete and Pete are out on DVD. These, along with things like Babylon 5 and Mystery Science Theatre 3000, are on my list of absolutely essential media to own. <WAYNE CAMPBELL>It will be mine; ah, yes, it will be mine.</WAYNE CAMPBELL>
And now, having gotten my hour of Dance Dance Revolution in for the first time in the better part of a week, caught my finances up in my spreadsheets (and only have $400 that I can't account for!), and filled my stomach full of that fantastic gorgonzola alfredo pasta of Moira's that has come to be known as 'the pasta of love', it's off to bed again.
'Till the next day, my friends.
