Jun. 27th, 2003 07:30 pmThe sky passing overhead on the way home today and yesterday has been breathtaking. Something about the towering, rolling clouds, or perhaps the dull dark blue hue of the heavens, like an ocean overturned and hung roiling in the air. Yesterday, for a reason I'm still not cogniscent of, it brought ancient Greece to mind.
My job situation is improved. While my dad probably won't be working at Kenzer for more than another week or so, it seems I'll most likely be needed until the middle of August. They'd probably be happy to rehire me to do miniatures stuff again after they've got the new facility up too, but I'm not quite sure when that will be, and at that point I'll most likely not have long to stay in the area. In any case, it's good to know that I've got another good month and a half of paychecks coming, and my dear one and I will work the rest out as it comes.
Allow me to make the understatement of the month by saying I am really looking forward to seeing her six days from now.
It looks like I'll have a mostly pleasent weekend. My grandmother is celebrating her seventieth birthday on Saturday, which the family is gathering at my aunt Mickey and uncle Mike's place for, and on Sunday I will hopefully get a chance to work at my grandfather's forge at his house for a few hours. I really like working a forge. Though I never have time to practice and thusly have little skill at it, my grandfather is a retired farrier and smith of many years, and I think it's in my blood. It calls to me. With luck, and perhaps some assistance, I'll manage to get my project for Andrea done. This may be a little more complex than I'm up to at this point, but I'm going to try...
But for now, I'm enjoying having a slow night and knowing that I don't have to go to work in the morning.
