Sep. 5th, 2003 12:28 amWell, I'm off to the east again tomorrow. I've been doing a lot of that lately, which is why I haven't had much time for a lot else. This may be a good thing, as I suspect that, in the few weeks ahead before my move to the town of Warren Michigan, I'm going to have more time than I would really like. I've had that feeling of needing to be doing something pretty strongly today, particularly about my job situation. The time has come now, I think, to focus on job hunting in the Detroit area, which is part of what I'm doing this trip. I'm paying a visit to the electrician's union to apply for apprenticship. I have a printed rough draft of my resume to show my sweetie for comments, and I'm planning to send it to a theatrical supply company she pointed out to me out there. I have a lot of moments, though, when I feel like I'm wasting a phenomonal amount of time, regardless of the fact that there's not a whole lot I can do about the situation. I was feeling like that today, but talking to Andrea tonight simply improved my mood to an amazing extent. She can always pick me up...
Finished Bimbos of the Death Sun last weekend. A very enjoyable book. Read the first of the Series of Unfortunate Events books today. It was decent enough, a good kids book but not great. It's written at a level for fairily young kids I think, and the set I have will probably go to E-bay. I started reading What Color is Your Parachute? and got far enough to realize that it will requre some work and thought that should wait until I have more time on my hands after this weekend. Now, I'm going to start Kurzweil's The Age of Spiritual Machines. It feels really good to be reading a lot again.
So yes, I'm away for the weekend again, but when I get back I'll hopefully be a little more in contact with people around here than I have been, and I may even find time to get on Trillian/AIM once in a while! *grin* But 'till then, this will be my last chance to be with my beloved for a few weeks, so we're going to make the best of it.
