Dec. 1st, 2004 01:40 pmI've managed to get six extra hours of work so far this week. I'll take extra hours whenever I can get them. Working an eight hour day at the call center on Tuesday really wasn't too bad either except for the fact that I didn't get lunch in. Being part-time, I don't have one scheduled. I'm sure that, had I asked, they would have given me time. It's actually a good place to work and it's one of the things I'm going to miss about moving; I'm hoping I can find a similar environment out westward. But, since I just wanted the hours, I worked right on through 'till three.
I've passed the last two practice tests I've taken for the 2K server exam by a decent margin. I feel so good about finally getting to that again. I'm hoping to register for the test sometime next week. Then, it's time for the maintaining a Windows network environment exam. After that, I've only got two more. I'm nervous about taking the exams though. I've got vouchers for the first time taking each exam but if I fail one I have to pay for it myself the second time and they are not cheap. Study study study...
While at work today I found two journals with some entirely beautiful photography of exactly the sorts of things that just take my breath away.
urban_decay and
deadmachinery. Wow. I would love be able to contribute to them. I've always thought that the ruined generator in the basement of the Rhode Opera House in Kenosha with its massive, collapsed, corroded copper-green field coils and its giant reciprocating piston arm was starkly beautiful; these communities are inspiring me to try to get some really good pictures of it.
The price of the coin-op laundry machines has risen from $1.00 and 75ยข respectively to $1.50 and $1.25. A load of wash now costs $2.75 instead of $1.75. This sucks. $1.75 was already quite enough to pay for the priviledge of walking down two flights of stairs to use someone else's big white basement machines. *sigh* I'm spoiled by having always had our own in my family I suppose. I'm considering investigating laundromats, though I have no idea how much those cost either.
Nobody's shown up for our board game nights on Tuesday yet. Andrea and I played Scrabble again this week after a session of Lunch Money last week, followed by Truth or Dare (which swiftly became Truth or Truth when I pointed out that our surroundings were not very conducive to interesting dares. I think that was Andrea's intention anyway, though...)
I'm seriously thinking about trying to get my PIII Xeon server configured again. I've been wishing it was set up for months now; might as well put some effort into it and I'm feeling like I have a little more time lately. It makes a heck of a paperweight, but I'm hoping to make it somewhat more productive.
Still intend to write about the Thanksgiving weekend. Just haven't been inspired yet. But, I feel good about things right now and I'm looking forward to things like
imandunewen's graduation and my mate and I visiting my parents for Christmas. (My Christmas present for Andrea should be here in plenty of time. Yay!)
I must go; a plump grey cat is demanding my attention.
