Dec. 7th, 2004 08:18 amGood times yesterday.
After the aforementioned trip to see Andrea's doctor (I was glad to find out that nothing extremely serious is wrong with her) we repasted at a Chinese Buffet in Lake Orion (I think). My realization that each buffet seems to have a single outstanding product holds true at Empire Wok; their sweet and sour sauce is excellent! Plus they have chocolate syrup for the ice cream too which, despite my brother having told me that it's bad for doggies, I admit to having indulged in. I will accept my slap on the wrist now.
We came home and Andrea napped while I lay next to her on the bed reading the Mercedes Lackey paperback that she bought for me while we were in Canada on Thanksgiving day. I adore Mercedes Lackey. I adore my raccoon girl too and had a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing time lying next to her with the bedside lamp on, listening to her breath as I turned pages and occasionally stroked her hair. Mmm, contentment.
I was very tired and probably should have slept along with her but I was absorbed by my reading. To my embarrassment, I can't recall the title right now (The Rose Mage?) but the turn of the century San Francisco setting and the excitingly strong female book-worm progtagonist are sucking me in and holding me willing captive.
After Andrea woke up, we I packed up laundry into our baskets and, Andrea coming along with rented movies in hand, trundled out to the truck for a trip to
grimdeath's place. (For those who are unaware, that would be Andrea's ex husband, Darren. We were dog-sitting for him.) Kuma has been spending a lot of time in his crate since Darren left on Friday so we wanted to give him some run-around time. Andrea and I lay down on the bed to watch Man in the Moon while Kuma lounged on the floor and laundry ran in the basement.
In fact, speaking of laundry, I am seriously considering asking Darren to let me come over and use his facilities. The prices on the coin-op machines at the apartment are egregious! Even though Darren's machines are strange modles from the '50s (the agitator doesn't spin; it bangs up and down like a piston being propelled by minor explosions that can be heard right through the floor), they are infinitely better than using the ones we have access to. They're about twice as big for one thing. I got laundry done in half the time!
But I digress. Snuggling on the really nice pillow-top bed with Jet's pizza (mmm, good stuff) and a movie was just a great way to end the day. I'm entirely exhausted today, having stayed up late the last two nights running, but it was worth it.
*smiles* I feel good. More as events transpire.
