stormdog: (sleep)
I stayed home yesterday, but I'm back to work again today. I figured that if I was home anyway then I'd get some stuff done, but instead I slept 'till about one o' clock and then slacked the rest of the day. Andrea and I snuggled on the couch for a bit and, er, tested video playback on the new computer downstairs with some stuff I'd downloaded. Not too bad at all! Now I just have to get it on the network so I don't have to burn CDs or carry stuff across on my USB drive. I haven't pinned out the USB and audio headers yet either; didn't feel up to doing it. I'll get to it some other time I think; everything I need to have working is working.

Andrea and I had dinner with my mother, brothers, sister-in-relation and Brody, a toddler who belongs to one of the other teachers my dad works with. My dad was out doing rehearsal; I think it's for Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, which sounds like a show I need to go see. After dinner, I went back over and played Civilization IV for a couple hours with [livejournal.com profile] akreaveter. I should do that more when we can get mom and dad involved.

I am, of course, now buried at work. Andrea is making Pasta of Love for me tonight. I can't wait to get home! She's going to look for curtain rings so we can get our tapestries hung too. They've been sitting doubled over the bar in our bedroom since we got them.

The universe is conspiring to keep me from getting anything accomplished today.

While on the way out of the gas station I stopped at after work, my serpentine belt shredded itself. I bought a ten dollar pre-paid phone card at Walgreens and, after wrestling the calling card system into cooperation, asked my sweetie to come pick me up. She met me there about an hour later.

We then went to Ace to buy hardware to wire up her muffler (it was falling off), then to Woodman's to get dinner since we decided to postpone the Pasta of Love in favor of something requiring less effort. My sweetie has a deep dish pizza from Pizzeria Uno cooking for me. This will do wonders to reduce the stress of the day. We then stopped to buy a belt for my truck; I'm going to try to get out to the vehicle during lunch tomorrow to install it. I also have to call Hessefort (our mechanic) to tell them that I will be dropping off the vehicle to be looked at on Wednesday night instead of tonight. I was actually on the way to my mechanic to get the hanging metal plate looked at when that happened. At least the belt is something I know how to replace. I have recent experience from [livejournal.com profile] serinthia and [livejournal.com profile] todd_riverden's car.

I need to put some clothes in the wash for tomorrow since I'm out, and then my mate and I are going to have pizza and watch Animaniacs. And not think too hard. *woofs*
