Oct. 24th, 2008 11:05 amOther people posting about internet connections reminded me; I need to track down this mysterious $10 per month naked DSL offer that seems to be legally mandated in Wisconsin and several other states by court ruling through the end of 2009. I'm going to start investigating in more depth this weekend, but I've poked around some websites and found rumors and speculation with little hard evidence. I've made it as far as finding a plan that runs $10 per month but requires a phone line along with it for extra money. If anybody has any info on it, let me know; I'm looking to downgrade to it.
I've also found, as I was paying bills last night, that since I am on a plan that Sprint no longer offers (the SERO plan), I am not eligible for a discounted new phone even though I've been on the plan for over a year. (Might be two or three at this point; I can't remember. I suppose I could look at Quicken and see when I started paying them.) Phone discounts are only applicable to plans that cost above a certain rate per month; conveniently, the SERO plans are about two dollars a month below that. the cheapest plan that exists at this point, even with employee referral, is another $20 a month.
But that's fine. I'd kind of like a smart phone, but it doesn't matter enough for me to actually buy one at full price. And I'm going to stick with my cheap, 500 minute, unlimited data plan. In fact, I wish I could downgrade it. I never use more than 100 minutes or so, and I don't get any rollover. Oh well.
