Feb. 8th, 2011 11:05 pm*woofs* I'm feeling pretty worn this evening.
I got back from Michigan last week Thursday. On Friday I had an appointment with an advisor at UW-Parkside, so I was in Kenosha for a while. I drove back to Chicago on Saturday to meet up with the ever-exciting
danaeris to see a play. And I'm going to tangent for a moment.
Specifically, we saw Dog Sees God, which, despite some issues, I enjoyed. Also, because I have this big sentimental soft spot in my heart for Peanuts since my dad always used to buy collections of them for me to read at a used book store we used to go to and I reread them over and over again, when the end of the play came, and 'CB' read a letter sent to him by his pen-pal, 'CS', I started crying. I couldn't help it. I felt rather embarrassed, and Danae let me lean on her shoulder for a while.
Back to the narrative. We slept in Chicago that night, and on Sunday I drove to Johnsburg for a party for my grandfather's 81st birthday. Happy birthday Grandpa! I love you, even if you probably won't read this. On the way there, I also dropped in on
posicat and hung out with him for an hour or so and was treated to a tasting of the chili he was making. Yum!
Monday was my first day of helping a friend with his business out in St. Charles, which I may be doing Monday through Wednesday on a regular basis. It's a long commute from here, but that was somewhat abated by Danae offering to let me sleep over with her on Monday night. Of course, that was preceded by a board game night I was invited to at Fermilab. And I will willingly out myself as a science groupie here; I was irrationally excited to a laughable extent as I visited Fermilab for the first time. And how awesome is this: there was a warning sign on the roadway on the grounds that states "Dark matter? How about black ice?" Oh, if anyone was in the car with me I would have embarrassed myself again with all the squeeing.
Today, I'm back in Chicago after a second day working in St. Charles. Tomorrow I'll be there again. Thursday is my Japaense class, and then I'm leaving for Capricon and Wheeling, IL where I'll be for the weekend.
Busy dog is busy. And tired.
