The subject of faceblindness came up while <lj user="danaeris"> and I were talking tonight. I talked about it being a factor in why I don't photograph people, and she decided to see if there were any portrait artists who are faceblind. This led us being snuggled up on the couch while watching a 60 Minutes episode about prosopagnosia.

There was a segment where they were talking to a 13-year-old boy who is faceblind. He talked about how scary it is when people talk to him because he knows he's supposed to know who they are and he doesn't, and can't. That it's really hard for him to make friends. It made me tear up. I can remember so well exactly how he feels. I want to talk to him and tell him that, as much he might think it will keep from ever making friends, that it won't. That you really can have a good, social life. I want to tell him how I manage and that it can all be ok. I just wanted so much to reach out to him and make him feel better because I know too well how terribly isolating it is, and how lonely it can be. I hope he's managing and doing ok.

I'm spending tonight doing data entry of surveys from fieldwork a few weeks ago.

There's a blank on our survey form for age. The person who filled in the form I just entered wrote "old". Heh.
