I've been kind of annoyed by the derogatory tone of a lot of stuff from Daily KOS for a while, but was never motivated to do anything about it. A recent Facebook post containing the headline "Donald Trump is a Deluded Belligerent Tea Bagging Conspiracy Nut, just like GOP Base" has moved me across the line. I'm unfollowing the Facebook feed and unsubscribing from email. This is not helpful dialogue.

I just sent the following email to their contact address:

"Hi there!

I've been following Daily KOS for a while. I've been kind of annoyed by the derogatory tone of a lot of stuff here for a while, but was never motivated to do anything about it. I can't respectfully engage with people who disagree with me politically while appearing to support sweepingly negative mischaracterizations and dismissals of those same people.

Traveling Companion?

I'm looking for a second driver and vehicle for a trip to, and from, Syracuse, New York!

I'll be leaving Kenosha for Syracuse on the 10th of August with a trailer full of stuff. I'm hoping not to have to take my car (so I can sell it here before I leave). If any of you would like to come with, I'd be happy to pay for a trailer hitch to be installed on your car at my expense (so I'm not spending $250 to have it done on mine, which I won't be keeping anyway). We'd drive there together, and then you'd get home on your own. You could stay with me in Syracuse for a couple of days too, if you want to.

If that sounds interesting, let me know. It would have to be soon though! I need to get the hitch installation scheduled.

Texas Pictures, Round Two

Independence Chapel at the Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth is a little overwhelming. Coated in Italian marble and filled with larger-than-life sculptures of United States founding fathers, the building feels more like a classic nineteenth-century state capitol than a mausoleum.
