stormdogMy eyes hurt today. I just want to close them and go to sleep. *yawns*
I'm talking to a third member of the team I'm possibly joining in a few minutes. I'm still torn. On one hand, I'll probably make a lot more money, and will get to learn things.
On the other hand, they may not be the things I want to learn. I'd really like to get into Cisco networking. My new position wouldn't do a lot of that. Neither does my current one. But, when I talked to my manager about advancement within the department I'm in now, he indicated that he'd be willing to pay for some classes for me, including CCNA and such things.
I feel like after a few years, I'm really settling into a nice groove where I am, both at work and at home. The house is getting better and better, money is ok, and I'm pretty comfortable where I am at work. If I stay where I am, I can take some classes after work and get more certs and move on to something better and of my own choosing when the time comes. I won't be forced into learning what I need to learn to do my new job. I've got to admit, as much as I keep thinking about the really nice house that Andrea and I saw during an open house walkin last weekend and about how much easier it would be to have something like that with significantly more money coming in (not that that's going to happen until we figure out Andrea and school, but I can dream), a big part of me wants to stay where I'm comfortable and have a better chance of learning at my own pace.
I have to make a phone call in a couple minutes. Wish me luck.

I lied. I wussed out. I just emailed and asked if I could take him up on his offer of calling after work. I guess I'll talk to him then.
