stormdogMy doctor is leaning toward a virus being the cause of my ailments. He had a blood test, urine test, and abdominal x-ray done to rule out other things, and told me to stay home for the next two days, get lots of rest, stick to a bland diet (rice, bread, apple-sauce) and drink lots of fluid. He recommended Gatorade, so, though I usually don't go for the stuff, I bought two bottles of flavors that sounded at least somewhat appealing ('lime', and 'blue') and, to my surprise, downed them in short order. I may actually go out to Big!Lots and buy some more, along with an electric razor if I can find one. I'm not very good at using the manual ones. And to think that, when I was a little boy, I'd decided that, if I wanted to shave (which I'd also decided I probably wouldn't bother with), it would be with a straight razor. Not because anyone I knew did it; I just thought it was retro and cool.
In any case, I left a voice mail for my manager telling him the news and that I'd be out for the rest of the week. For now, I'm going to post a laptop on Ebay (anyone interested in in a 3.4ghz HP nx9600 with a full keyboard with numberpad and the balance of an onsite next day service agreement through some time in '08? This thing is really big; 17" widescreen display with a power supply you can use as a boat-anchor. It's got an onboard Firewire port, believe it or not.) and take that quick trip out I mentioned.
I also have someone coming by tonight, in theory, to possibly buy that Proliant ML570. I couldn't be happier than to have that thing out of my house and to have a few hundred dollars in its stead.
Ouch. My stomach has started hurting again as I write this. Maybe the Gatorade wasn't a great idea? Maybe a little of the french bread downstairs will help.
