stormdogSo it's going to be stormy in Rochelle, Illinois tomorrow. The temperature will be in the mid seventies. So far, those who expressed interest at various points have decided not to go.
But you know, I'm going anyway. I want to go on a nice car ride. I'm going to bring the dog. I'm going to bring my camera gear, my kite, and some food. I really want to get out and do something.
While I'm in the area, I'm going to drop in and see The Kapotas sculuptures, and maybe some other nearby stuff like this fake Berlin wall. The rain tomorrow ought to make for some neat pictures, if I can keep my hands warm. I think I'm going to pass on my idea of bringing firewood though, at least this time.
Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me just ended on NPR, so I'm going to bed. Early day tomorrow! (Still a chance for those interested to come with for this randomly-scheduled road trip.... just let me know.)

On the subject of photography, NPR was interviewing a person who's photographic quest is visiting and photographing every single down in North Dakota. As he puts it, 'every dot on the map'. He's found everything from full size cities, to little towns consisting of a bar, a church, and a grain elevator. Some places, he can't even find any evidence of a town at all. At each site he takes a few photos to show what it's like to be there, looking out from that spot.
He's put in a lot of miles, all by himself on the road and seen a lot of fantastic, poignant, and completely unexpected things. I just can't begin to express how awesome I think this person is.
Here's his site. I hope I can do something half that, I don't know, spiritual, some day. People like him always remind me of the episode of Babylon 5 centering around the pilgrim who was searching the galaxy for the holy grail. The journey itself can be the most exquisitely beautiful thing you'll ever know. Delenn would, I think, call him a true seeker.
