Aug. 9th, 2009 02:58 pmFinally made it home.
So tired.
Took a quick shower and nap, and am now trying to get to the right place in the NYPD phone system to get my complaint number.
In the meantime, here are a few pictures from our visit tothe hellmouth Centralia, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

My brother stands partially up one of the hills in the ghost town of Centralia, Pennsylvania.
Centralia is the site of an underground mine fire that's been burning for forty years; it's almost entirely abandoned. Smoke and fumes waft up from cracks and crevices in the ground. Evidence of great subsidences abound in the form of strips of crumbled blacktop that run straight down steep embankments.

Yes, the folks I work, as well as my family, with have decided that, when my brother
akreaveter is doing his creepy thing, he looks like Charles Manson. It kind of weirds me out in pictures.
I realized after we left that I was getting the beginnings of a nasty headache. It subsided once we were way for a while. I'm quite sure it had something to do with standing in front of or on top of sulfurous fume-belching crevices while convincing my brothers to do the same for pictures. This place is not so healthy these days....
-------------
I still feel some of the stiffness and soreness in my feet, but it's mostly gone now. I will definitely be writing in more detail about all the stuff I did and saw. Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow. I'll probably bring my laptop along so I can type while waiting in line.
