(no subject)
Sep. 9th, 2009 10:50 amWhile I was staying down in Chicago a little while ago, one of
jimcyl and
mlsguy's friends was talking about licensing on Flickr photos. It made me realize that, rather than leaving mine as all rights reserved, I think I'd like to put them out there under some kind of Creative Commons licensing.
The options Flickr has available for easy application to images are:
I've poked at the Creative Commons website for a little more info, but I have to admit that I'm not a hundred percent clear on what effect each of the licensing options that Flickr makes easily available has.
It sounds like what I probably want to use is the third option. I'd like to allow other people to use my pictures for non-commercial purposes, with attribution to the artist (me, if I can use that word) without allowing derivative works. I'm not sure about what the ShareAlike part is in some of them. That's the option that means derivative works are ok as long as they're under the same license, or is that something else?

And while I'm on the subject of pictures, here's one looking up through the roadbed of Lake Shore Drive south of Illinois Street. I was walking westward along a little river inlet and just thought the sliver of sky was neat.
