So, I haven't seen Disney's The Princess and the Frog. But I'm curious as to whether any of my readers have. See, I have a little problem with it.

For so many years, Disney has been creating pretty animated fantasies about brave and beautiful princesses. Many of them have been role models for little girls. Up until this most recent one, there hasn't been a single black Disney princess. A bunch of white ones. An Asian one. Even a canid one if we look at Robin Hood. But no representation of one of the largest minority groups in America.

So finally we have an animated Disney movie about a black princess. And...she gets to spend the majority of the movie being green?? What the hell, Disney?

Am I the only one who has a problem with this? Would I feel better if I see the movie? It just seems to me that, like the companies who make all the princess Fiona dolls of her false human look instead of her truly beautiful ogre form, Disney is kind of missing the point.

What do you think?
