I've decided to get on Twitter and play around with it a bit since so many professionals and academics use it.
I've avoided and/or ignored it for a long time because I haven't felt like I could have any kind of meaningful communication with my social network when constrained to 140 characters. But perhaps it will prove to be a much more useful tool when used to keep up with people and groups I'm interested in instead.
I created a professionally-focused Skype account too. I think this may be the internet equivalent of Thoreau's "enterprise which requires new clothing."
