I stopped on the way home today to see my mechanic; Vance of My Car Care. I heard tell from Andrea's ex that he was annoyed with me over a lack of communication on my part about his efforts to find a car to replace the blue beast. I'd been stressing about it since learning this on Sunday; I hate it when I make people mad at me, especially without intending to, and he's one person who I definately want to be on the good side of. So, I stopped by just to apologize and explain what was going on. But, he wasn't really unhappy with me; I talked to him for a bit about what's going on with me and about the truck I ended up buying. He said he had had a good deal on something for me but after I told him how much I paid for my little red truck he told me that, even with the amount of mileage on it, I'd done really well there. He said Dakotas are very reliable and generally an all-around good choice for a pickup. That made me happy; I trust Vance's opinion very highly.
By the way, if anyone is looking for a local mechanic, I cannot recommend Vance too highly. He's in the Troy area, 15 Mile Road west of Livernois, and is an excellent, honest mechanic. Pointing him out to me was probably the best thing that Darren has done for me and I do everything I can to spread the work about him. If anyone's interested, I'll send you the number of his shop. It's he and his wife running the place and it's small enough that you get very personalized service (he remembers your car, what he's done to it, and what you still need) and no bull. He'll do work for cost of labor if you provide parts which I love. Plus, at least last time I was there, he had a Superbird (his wife races it) and a DeLorean in his garage. Nifty!
After that, I came home and fell asleep. *sigh* I really do need the sleep sometimes; it's just frustrating when I feel like there's a bunch of stuff I ought to be doing. I woke up with this terrible sore throat. I think the humidity might be way low, having started up the furnace again. Maybe I should buy a humidifier. I remember having the same problem last year and going to a job where I talk on the phone all day with a sore throat is near the top of the heights of everyday suckiness.
Actually, I'm going to be leaving fairly soon for the exposition that Andrea's company is running tonight. There's a guy there who sells computer parts on trade (did I mention that before in this space?) and I'm going to see about buying a utilitarian laptop to bring to work with me. All I want is an RJ-45 jack, USB capability, and a processor running at 400Mhz or faster. I'll bring it to work with me and study for the rest of my certification exams, not to mention being able to take it into the living room to write ebay copy on. That would be way neat.
S'about it for now. 'Till later, my friends.
