I had a nice dinner with my parents, brothers, and Andrea last night. I got home early enough to mostly get the bathroom cleaned up and I took a nice long shower with a green tea candle burning. This morning, I put on freshly laundered, crisply blue jeans and one of my more comfortable work shirts. I'm wearing a few dabs of the orris root oil that I bought from one of the vendors at faire last year. It's been sitting in my medicine cabinet, but I don't use it much. I should; it smells like satyr. Or maybe fawn. I'm not quite sure which.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] ankhorite sent me pictures of men in kilts. Yay!

I've been kind of stressed out since coming back from vacation, but I'm feeling a bit better today. It's neat how much a difference a clean space to get ready for the day in makes. If only the bathtub was big enough to soak in while reading a book by candlelight.

When we were looking for a house in Wisconsin, we didn't really have a wide range of choices, or much time to use in finding more options. When we move this time, we're going to have an actual list of requirements and hopes for it. One of the biggest for me will be a much bigger bathroom. Not terribly often, but once in a while, I get the urge to take a nice long bath. It would be so nice to be able to do it. It would probably even motivate me to scrub the tub more often!

I emailed a couple people last night about wanting to play Iron Dragon on Saturday, which it looks like is my plan for at least some of the day. If everyone who already expressed interest comes, that should be about five people, which is a pretty good number I think. If you're all still planning to attend, just let me know! I'm not very good at that whole cooking thing, but I can buy some good frozen pizzas and chips and stuff, and I'm hoping other people will contribute to supply munchies.

Our team lead has decided, because of a joke I made about how much light my four monitors give off, it would be funny to turn the lights off in here and turn on the red spinning light that we use when there's a major problem affecting the network. That lead me to talk about reading jwz.org and the story there about the nightclub that Jamie Zawinski, one of the authors of Netscape Navigator, owns. There was a huge party the day that Netscape went public and the nightclub had a huge display that scrolled lines of Netscape source code the whole night.

Bit I digress.

I actually kind of like working in the dark, and it's made me realize that I really do never look at my keyboard. And it's only a little more difficult when I slide down my desk to work on one of the four laptops sitting next to me. Just seeing these monitors and displays floating in the darkness is really soothing. The spinning red light, on the other hand, is giving me a headache....

Today seems to be going quickly. I've had things that were at least mildly interesting keeping me busy today. And our manager gave us more girl-scout cookies (I only had one).

Awwwww........ The lights are back on.
