Unicycling
Apr. 20th, 2016 01:47 pmI have a few minor sore spots from a couple of rough landings, but I had a good unicycle session today. My next goal is to ride all the way around the outside of my building. When I started today I wasn't even confident in my controlled turns, but by the end of the hour I'd had one run that went 80% of the full square!
The man I bought the giraffe uni from said it was a factor in his meeting his wife! They met on Match.com, where her profile said she was a unicyclist and trampoline artist. Apparently, he found that pretty interesting. I would too!
The giraffe is a vintage Schwinn model, in great shape and a lovely piece of gear. $25 was absolutely a steal; in a unicycle.com forum post a few years ago, one person said that even $125 would be a steal. I'm really looking forward to learning to ride it.
While I was waiting for the text with the address from the seller, I got my little uni out and practiced a bit. I fell right off the first time, but by the fifth attempt I got most of the way down the driveway. I even made the turn onto the street and went a few houses down on one run. It's been a year or so, but it comes back quickly.
